River Company Logo  BREWERY

The River Company operates a 10 barrel direct fired Diversified Metal Engineering brew system.  Our system was built in 1998 and originally installed in Globe, AZ. The River Company purchased the system in July 2008 and shipped it to Radford.
Our Chief Brewer supervised the installation and recommissioning of the system and commenced brewing in May 2009. We offer up to eight draft beers at any one time.  These are a mixture of year round offerings and special beers that the brewer dreams up.

Beer glass filled with IPASouthwest “V” India Pale Ale

In the U.S., India Pale Ales have become regionalized to the West and East Coast. In an effort to set ourselves apart from the pack we are brewing a Southwestern Virginia IPA. Southwest V IPA is made from 2 Row Brewers Malt, Toasted Malt, and 2 Caramel Malts. It is assertively hopped with Chinook and Amarillo hops.

Beer glass filled with PorterDumpster Dog Porter

Our Porter has a complex malt profile from 7 different malts and is balanced by Fuggles hops. It is named after the brewers’ late dog that he found in a dumpster as a puppy tied in a bag and left to die. That dog (his name was Guinness) became a one of the most complex and intelligent animals that he ever owned. This complexity is reflected in the Porter we serve.
